Frances Lee Edwards Jordan

“Lord, when thou seest that my work is done let me not linger” Frances Lee Edwards Jordan, daughter of the late Sterling Cecil Edwards and Florence Wynn Edwards departed this life on May 17th at West Point Riverside Convalescent Center with her “adopted” daughter, Claudette Canady by her side. She was born on December 31, 1927. At an early age, Frances confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and was baptized and became a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in West Point. She remained a faithful member until her health began failing in November. She was active in her church as a Deaconess and lifting her beautiful Alto voice on the Mass Choir. She attended and graduated from the public schools in West Point and also attended Virginia Union University. She met and married, the late James Thomas Jordan on May 13, 1950 and to this union two children were born: Arlette King of Clinton, Maryland and Regena Jones of Gloucester, Virginia. The Jordans were the owners and operators of Jordan Cleaners in West Point until their retirement in 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, her great grandson James Thomas Wynn and her siblings: Sterling Edwards, Jr., Norma Jane Jackson and Walter Gray. Frances leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory, her children: Arlette King (Carroll) of Clinton, Maryland and Regena Jones (Franklin) of Gloucester, Virginia. Also to cherish her memories are her grandchildren: Sherri Wynn, Rene Erskines, Michelle Newby (Terry) and Michael White. Great-grandchildren: Kris Wynn, Sierra Wynn, Michael White III, Kennedy and Kendra Ellison and Madison White. Extended grandchildren: Bruce Jones (Nicole). Extended great grandchildren; Anaiya, Cameron and Caden. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Madeline Edwards and Gladys Jordan. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Special devoted friends Donald Epps and Maxine White, Selma Parsons, Barbara Pryor and neighbors Pastor Arthur “Duke” Anderson and the Bradleys (Philip and Thasia) and Queen Wise. A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday, May 21st at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 13th and Kirby Street in West Point. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Mt.
