Michael Wayne Carruthers

Michael Wayne Carruthers, born November 21, 1967 in Reno Nevada, gained his wings and went home to our amazing God on July 24, 2023. He kissed his beloved wife Catherine of 21 years goodnight and went peacefully to eternal rest. Michael was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and cousin to his family. He was an expert in many areas of tax. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University earning his Batchelors degree and went on to become a CPA. He had an amazing career that led him and his family from San Antonio to Austin to Dallas and then finally to Virginia. Michael loved to watch movies, go to different restaraunts and absolutely loved the beach and sitting in the sun. Michael loved all genres of music and would often listen to them when working. In the evenings, Michael and Catherine would sit and watch their favorite shows on tv, as she would make different crafts; Michael always loved to see her create beautiful things. His devotion to Catherine was beyond anything you could imagine, and you could witness it every time he smiled at her. Michael loved his boys beyond words. He took those boys under his wings the moment he met them in 1999 and never looked back. He was a kid at heart and the boys loved that about him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Carruthers; mother, Vivian St. Louis; father, Terry Carruthers (Donna); sons, Edward Anthony Carruthers of San Antonio, Christopher Wayne Carruthers (Nathalie Sanchez) of Marble Falls; brothers, Scott Moreno (Laura) of Fresno California, David Carruthers and Donnie Carruthers; sister-in-law, Diane Love of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Mark Purcell of Schertz; nephews and nieces, Johnathan Niemietz and wife Kathie of San Antonio, Joshua Niemietz of San Antonio, Rebecca Niemietz of San Antonio and Sara Niemietz of San Antonio, Drew Moreno and wife Aly of Clovis, and Scotty Moreno of Fresno; 4 great-nephews and 7 great-nieces. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his mother-in-law, Marilyn DeWinne of Schertz; father-in-law, Rene De Winne of San Antonio; and brother-in-law, Mike Love of San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the American Kidney Fund in his memory, and to consider the wonderful gift of organ donation.
