Ada Mae Williams

Ada Williams was born Ada Mae Holder to the late Jesse James and Cola McCullers Holder in Zebulon, North Carolina on January 26, 1939.She moved to Charles City Virginia at the age of 17, In which she met her first husband of 18 years; Eugene Sackett Seldon Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age and has been a faithful member of Mt. Zion for several years and worked on the usher board. Ada worked at Eastern State Hospital for several years and retired from Colonial Williamsburg. After retirement, she was so full of life she started working at the Colesville Nursery. She loved flowers and butterflies so much that she had both all over her house. Ada also loved fishing. She was also a caring person and became a caretaker for several people in the county, until the end of their journeys. She was so full of life that most would see her walking every day just to keep busy. Ada went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2022 . She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, James Holder and Jimmy Holder. Ada leaves to cherish her memory: Her current husband of 28-years James “Wes” Williams; three children, Eugene Seldon (Rebecca), from Charles City, James Seldon, from Maryland and Patricia (Jermaine) Jacobs from Texas. Special acknowledgment to Faye Simon (Kenneth) as a daughter and Caretaker, from New Kent; bonus sons, Leon and Elliot Charity from Charles City; 15 grandchildren; Lameca, Eugene III, and LaToya, Donavon Seldon, Oddysey Taylor, Qualla Moye, Franklin Downing-Seldon, Mark Daye Jr., Michael Daye; 29 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; brother, William Holder; sisters, Adelle Haywood, Mable Crudup, Jessie Crowder, Diane Jackson, and Lorraine Mitchell all from North Carolina, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by loving devoted friends of the family, Jody Williams, Maggie Edwards, Otelia Williams, Betty Hughes, Mary Overstreet and Elnora Robinson along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held 1:30pm Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 11600 Wilcox Neck Rd., Charles City, VA 23030. A viewing will be held 1pm Sunday at the church.
