Barbara Mae Kelly

Barbara Mae Kelly was born September 17,1946 to the late Clarence and Blanche Lipscomb in New Kent County, Va. Barbara departed this life to be with her heavenly father on February 6, 2026 in Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, Va. She was baptized at an early age. She was educated in the New Kent County Public Schools. After high school, she was employed by Sunny Side (former Pop Inn) for many years. She then moved on to provide private home health care and was employed with Nurturing Hearts N’ Care for many years until her health declined. Affectionately known as” Barbara Mae” by all who loved her, she was a radiant, passionate, and deeply devoted woman whose life was a blessing to everyone she encountered. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and treasured friend-a true pillar of strength and grace within her family and community. Barbara had a heart for service, especially when it came to caring for the elderly. Her work was never just a job-it was a calling. She took great pride in showing up every day, knowing in her heart that she was providing the very best care for her patients. Her compassion, dedication, and unwavering work ethic were a reflection of the love she carried with her. A woman of faith, Barbara loved the Lord and cherished her family. She found immense joy in family gatherings filled with laughter, games, and shared memories that will be treasured for generations to come. She had a special fondness for watching soap operas, westerns, and game shows, and enjoyed playing cards with those she loved. She also delighted in visiting casinos -those “ching ching” sounds never failed to light up her spirit. Barbara also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. IHOP and Cracker Barrel were among her favorite restaurants, and when it came time for dinner, fried chicken was a must. These small traditions became meaningful moments that reflected her warmth and love of togetherness. Known as “the rock,” the matriarch,” and “the glue” of her family, Barbara held everyone together with her strength, wisdom, and unwavering love. Though she has transitioned from this earthly life, the impact of her presence remains everlasting. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that her love will never fade- it will continue to live on through cherished memories, shared stories, and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Barbara will forever be remembered as the radiant flower she was -strong, nurturing, joyful and endlessly loving. Barbara was preceded in death by husband, William Kelly; sisters Florence Wood, Ella Garner, Susie Wallace; brothers, Willie Lipscomb, Ernest Lipscomb and Walter Lipscomb. She leaves to cherish fond memories her children, Theresa Hill ( Christopher), Sylvester Lipscomb, Wilnette Johnson ( Kivinie), Mark Lipscomb, Kelvin Kelly ( Madeline), April Theus ( Mario), Geraldine Boston, Annette Phillips( Virgil), and Robert Lipscomb; one sister, Ann Washington; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Lori Bunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held 1PM Friday, February 13, 2026, at New Elam Baptist Church, 8101 Cumberland Rd, New Kent, VA 23124. A viewing will be held from 5PM-7PM Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va 23181.
