Charles Edward Christian

Charles E. Christian, 92 years old, departed this life on December 31, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 17, 1929, to Monroe and Eva Cotman Christian. Charles served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from New Kent Training School and worked at Camp Peary for 31 years, after making Koochie cry before applying for the position. He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and attended until his health declined. The Men’s Choir days were his favorites and he often encouraged others to support Ebenezer’s projects. He was quite the comedian and loved inviting people to have some food and tell them, “You can eat all you want but you can’t take any with you!” Charlene and Stefon were his servants! Charles also believed in helping others. He loved fishing, hunting and was blessed to build his own home in which he peacefully transitioned back to God. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Harris and Ethel Bowman; brothers, Washington and Cappy Christian. Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Alease Lemons Christian; daughter, Charlene Christian; son, Stefon Christian; brother, Henry (Koochie) Christian; nieces, nephews, and others, Betty Jefferson, Deborah Gray, Frances Christian, Gloria Jean Christian, Washington Christian Jr., Edwin, Julius and Alonzo Christian; devoted Shirley Street, JoAnn Christian, Chester Christian, Kelvin (Peg), Lilton Harris (Donna); devoted in-laws, Frances Watkins and Watkins nieces, Mildred Christian, Eric Lemons (Ann), Charles Lemons (Teresa); devoted Godchildren, Robin Watkins and Carla Lemons; other devoted family and friends, Kellie Carter, Jeff Akrie, Winnie Williams and many more. A Funeral service will be held 11AM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA. A visitation will take place from 5-7PM Friday, January 7th, at the funeral home.
