SSgt. Emerson Earl Parson

On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Emerson Earl Parson received his call to spend eternal life with our Heavenly Father. He passed away quietly at home in Stevensville, VA. Emerson was known as “Emmie”, “M” and “Uncle Emmie” to many. Emerson was the baby of the family, and was born on April 12, 1954 to Juanita Dillard Parson and the late James Richard Parson. He received Christ at an early age at Zion Baptist Church of King and Queen, VA. He graduated from King and Queen Central High School in 1972, and studied at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University. Emerson joined the United States Air Force, where he served for almost 18 years as a flight attendant and instructor from 1976 to 1994. Emerson also worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles, Pizza Hut, and was a sub-contracted mail carrier for Marion (Sugar) Candia. They called him “Maestro” because of the way he tickled the ivories. Emerson played the piano for various churches to include Zion Baptist Church and Union Hope Baptist Church in King and Queen County, and as a Minister of Music from 1999 to 2015 for Union Hope Baptist Church in King William, VA. He also played for various groups to include Baptist Liberty, E.T.U. Singers, New Morning Star Male Chorus, The Gospelites of New Morning Star and The Evening Twilight Singers. Emerson’s hobbies included shopping, dressing to impress, cooking, and taking his nieces out for Tuesday lunch. He was well known for his famous macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pies, and oatmeal lace cookies. He had a heart of gold and took pride in always lending a helping hand to anyone he encountered. Emerson was very witty and believed in “telling it like it is.” His spunky personality and kindness will be greatly missed by everyone. Emerson was preceded in death by his older brother Bernard E. Parson, his first wife Grace Carroll Parson, and his nephew Ethard S.Williams. He leaves to cherish in his memory, a wife Levonia Wynn of Lakeland, FL; a loving mother, Juanita M. Parson of King and Queen C.H., VA; two sisters, Dolores Parson Lipscomb(Arnold) of King and Queen C.H., VA, and Ethel P. Williams of Urbanna, VA; one sister-in-law, Pamela H. Parson of King William, VA; eight aunts, Edna Parson of Stevensville, VA, Beatrice Jones of Mattaponi, VA, Evelyn Parson of Augusta, GA, Juanita LittleJohn of Sicklerville, NJ, Eva Parson of Richmond, VA, Shirley Watkins of New Kent, VA, Ruth Parson of Richmond, VA and Reitha O’neil, who referred to as “Aunt Rea”, of King and Queen C.H.; three uncles, Luther Muse, Jr. and Walter P. Parson, Sr. of King and Queen, C.H., VA and Charles Rice of Camden, NJ; two children, Rayelga Wynn and Erric(Sanchez) Wynn of Lakeland, FL; five devoted nieces, Shanté P. Biney(Rodger) of Henrico, VA, Catrona Hill-Charity of Gloucester, VA, Elrica J. Holmes(Jamie) of Essex, VA, Roychelle F. Williams of Henrico, VA and LaDawn C. Parson of King William, VA; one nephew, Lewis B. Williams(DeShannon) of Urbanna, VA; twelve grandchildren, Wendell Wynn, La’Shawna Wynn, Erria Wynn, Tykiria Wynn, Exavier Wynn, Sanaá Wynn, Tatiana Wynn, Kaleob Wynn, Mone Wynn, Tyreek Wynn, Zoriah Wynn and Erric Wynn, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; Many devoted great nieces and nephews, adopted nieces and nephews, and numerous friends dear to his heart. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31st at Zion Baptist Church, 615 Zion Church Rd, King & Queen Courthouse, VA 23085. A visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Friday at Union Hope Baptist Church, 571 Union Hope Rd, King William, VA 23086.
