Through the difficult and the good, there is always a visionary – that person who will be brave, define creativity, and live and love in the most beautiful, honest way. This is Emma Hall of New Kent, Virginia, born on August 26, 2003. Emma and her wondrous spirit passed away under the care of the compassionate team at VCU Medical Center with her family by her side on May 15, 2019. She believed anything was possible, and she made a choice to see the good in everything. Emma and her creativity – that was the way she came alive. And it showed up in everything. Colorful watercolors, cozy knit scarves and hats, crafty woven snowflakes, tiny stars on a string hanging from her bedroom ceiling, and art – the art of painting, sculpting, and simple written designs. The colors. The subjects. The talent. Emma had an artistic eye for beauty. Emma would cling to what was true – the search for knowledge. She was a passionate learner, always reading, researching, and sharing the many topics that interested her. Smart, witty, and wise beyond her years, Emma was always an individual. She had an open mind; she did not impose her beliefs on others. She just accepted all of life’s perspectives and realities. She did her own thing in peace without judging anyone, and she surrounded herself with positive people. Emma and her closest friends valued each other, supporting one another and lifting each other up throughout their friendships. They could be found on stage together where Emma thrived in local productions of Peter Pan, Into the Woods, and other plays of the Missoula Children’s Theatre. She was a star worth celebrating – after all, she does have a star in the sky named just for her. For the highs and lows and moments in between, Emma never feared death – she feared not living. She knew there was so much more to life than simply surviving it. Because of Emma, there will always be Broadway musicals to sing; there will always be art and museums to explore, and there will always be, “I love you a bushel and a peck.” Emma, the visionary, who did all things with love, knew to journey wisely. It’s here in her life’s journey that we learn determination, kindness, reflection, humor, intellect, creativity – and yes, the boldness, bravery, and brilliance of one Starlit Spoonie. Emma is survived by her parents, Carrie and Darrell Weber, and her father, Jeff Hall; her brother, Garrett Hall; her grandparents, John and Cathy Hart, Robert Murphy and Mary Burns, and Ronald and Charlotte Weber; her great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; her best friends, Lucy and Elisa; her amazing circle of friends, and her beloved cat, Oliver. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and sincere thank you for all your kind words and expressions of sympathy. All are invited to attend Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA for a visitation on Sunday, May 19th from 1-4pm with a service immediately following. A Celebration of Life is scheduled on Friday, May 24 from 6-8pm at Quinton Park. For all events, the family encourages everyone to “come as you are” and feel free to wear color.
