Rosemary Charity

Rosemary Hunter Charity, age 64, of Charles City, VA passed away, Friday, January 10, 2025. She was the daughter of the late James Alvin and Mary Hunter of Port Haywood, Mathews County, Va. Rosemary attended Mathews County Public Schools and graduated from Mathews High School. After high school, she attended Pan-American Secretarial School in Richmond, Va. It was at a basketball game, between Mathews and Charles City where she met the love of her life, Duke Charity. The two were married December 6, 1980, and resided in Charles City, Va. They were blessed with one son, Jamaal, and one grandson, Rashad. Rosemary accepted Christ at an early age and joined Wayland Baptist Church of Mathews, Va. She later joined St. John Baptist Church of Charles City, Va, and she was a faithful member until her death. She worked as an Intake Specialist at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell, Va. and retired from there after 36 years of employment. Her love was truly contagious, and it was apparent in how she cared for her loved ones. Rosemary loved being with her family and friends celebrating special occasions. She was especially excited about welcoming her grandson and cherished spending quality time with him. Most importantly, she exemplified thoughtfulness, touching the hearts of everyone in her presence. If you were lucky enough to visit her home, she ensured you left with a full heart and a full stomach. Rosemary's caring spirit will deeply be missed, especially her laugh and caring nature. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Duke, son, Jamaal (fiance Laurel) and grandson, Rashad Charity, brother, Carroll Hunter (Sandra). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Verna Turner (Carroll), Gloria Allen, Beverly Charity, brother-in-law, Deuteronomy Jr. (Eva), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11AM Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church, 8131 Roxbury Rd, Charles City, VA 23030.
