Deaconess Rosetta Cauthorne Amy

Deaconess Rosetta Cauthorne Amy, 82, of Laneview VA entered into eternal rest on Monday April 13, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Cauthorne, Sr. and the late Mary Lizzie Morris Cauthorne. Deaconess Amy attended school in Essex County. She graduated from Essex High School in 1956. Deaconess Amy join Union Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age. She served in the following capacities: Choir Member, Missionary Member and Deaconess Ministry. She served as the Chairman for the Missionary Annual and Women’s Day Programs for many years. She also served as the Treasurer for the Missionary Circle for many years. Other organizations included the Order of Eastern Star of Virginia, PHA Pride of Essex #179 and the Tri-County Deacons and Deaconess Union. At an early age, she also enjoyed attending Macedonia Baptist Church. Deaconess Amy was joined in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Samuel Alexander Amy, Sr. on August 4, 1956. To this union were born four children. She has six grand-children and three great grandchildren. Deaconess Amy worked as a factory worker at Barnhardt Duck Farm for many years (after all of the children were in school). Deaconess Amy was a very quiet speaking person. She loved her family and her Union Shiloh Baptist Church Family. She also loved eating at Shoney’s Restaurant with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Samuel Amy, Sr; her parents; two brothers, Thomas Cauthorne Jr. and James Isaac Cauthorne as well as one sister, Thelma D. Jones. Deaconess Amy is survived by her children, three daughters, Linda A. Garnett, Bernadette A. Robinson and Pauline A. Byrd all of Richmond, VA; one son, Samuel A. Amy, Jr. of Laneview, VA; a special daughter-in-love, Meleda Amy; grandchildren, Boyd George (Catrina), Richard Robinson, Jr. (Tiffany), Ryan Amy, Christina Garnett, Joseph Garnett, Jr. and Autumn Amy; great grandchildren, Brayden George, Meleah George and Breah George.; siblings, Mary Frances Reed of Laneview, VA, Sarah Rembert of Camden, NJ, John Cauthorne (Bessie) of Laneview, VA, Doris Gray of Laneview, VA, Shirley Cauthorne of Richmond, VA and Martha Carey of Dunnsville, VA; one uncle, Robert Cauthorne, of Tappahannock, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private graveside will be held at Union Shiloh Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
