Walter Allen Loving Jr.

Loving, Walter A. Jr., 80, of Charles City, moved on the that big hunting ground in heaven with his heavenly father on Thursday, May 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. “Bubba” Loving III, and his parents, Walter A., Sr. and Dorothy Haynes Loving, a brother, Douglas Loving, and his best buddies, Candy, Jenny, Tequila, Muscle Man, Nautical, Bitsy, Tom, Bob, Cricket, Buster, Double Ugly, Boots, and best friend and buddy, Tippy. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Dudley Loving and daughter, Penny Loving (Brad Shinn) , a brother, Brooken Loving (Sandra), a sister, Nancy Loving Hooper (T.R.). Also surviving are, Ray Hooper (Jolyn), Lil Ray, Jaime Hooper, Jerry, Ryan, Blaine and Brette Hooper, Tammy Hooper Stevens, Chesni Rickman, Charles Loving, Allen Loving (Cindy), Scott Loving (Kelly) and a godson, Brandon Turner. His beloved beagles: Woody, Honcho, Liz [Jelly Belly], Knock Em Down Buster Brown. Grand Dogs: Sable, Kodiak and Willow. Walter attended Lee Davis High School and was a founding member of Burlington Hunt Club, was an avid farmer/gardener and a deacon at Pioneer Baptist Church. Began his career at Southern States. Then onto F&M, Sovran, Bank of America. Owned and operated W. A. Loving Contracting. He raised and hunter Walker Hounds and Rabbit Beagles and was a coon hunter and dog judge for many years. Enjoyed watching Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, and anyone playing Dallas. He grew up in the Studley and Rural Point area, very proud of “His Neck of The Woods in Hanover”. Known by his multiple nicknames: Flat Top, Grumpy (hunt club) along with, Stumpy (Best Buddy Tommy [Boilermaker] Cockrell, Big Bubba, Smiley and Walter “BA” Loving. He loved to “Get a Rise” outa folks, he and daughter Penn enjoyed teasn’ one another with practical jokes and April Fools shenanigans, “Very Unique” gifts for birthdays, Father’s Day and Christmas. Loved his Orange drinks ONLY in a glass bottle, Munch Peanut Candy, Peanut M&M's, Beef Jerky, Barbara Knights "Special Cake”, Coconut, Carrot, German Chocolate Cakes, making homemade stew, chili, Ribs, squash taters onions, fresh Hanover Maters, Corn on da Cob, making homemade Peach & Strawberry ice cream. Hated Chicken and Anything w/ Cheese, Despised PINK. Lawd DO NOT even mention the word SNAKE! ONLY drove a Ford nothing else was allowed at the homeplace. Watching Game Shows & Westerns. Listening to Country & Gospel music. Going to Nannies in Petersburg, Gus's, Carini's, Primas, Cracker Barrel, K & L, Cold Harbor Restaurant, Arby's. Ultra Thanks to Dr. Flickinger and Nurses Karen and Angie. Their loving friendship & care was phenomenal. The Bon Secours Community Hospice House provided wonderful care. Wonderful Amazing Caregivers: Teresa Webb Englehart, Doris McCormick, Cheryl Porch Halsey, Rayna Alfonso. All for their friendship, he surely Loved Ya'll!
