Wanda Gale Paulette

Wanda “Gale” Paulette, 64, of Shacklefords VA, passed away Saturday March 14, 2020 after a sudden illness. Gale was born in Williamsburg VA to Betty Mae and Earl Otha Soles, of Plainview VA. She graduated from York Academy where she was the Valedictorian of her class. Gale enjoyed watching the spring flowers bloom and shopping. She was a great listener and would listen intently to anyone who needed a listening ear. Gale was preceded in death her loving and loyal husband, Robert Lloyd Paulette and by her parents. She is survived by her son, Max Paulette Sr. (Beth) of Shacklefords VA; her daughter, Kelly Renee Paulette (and her special friend, Nelson Lewis Darnell III) of Shacklefords VA; seven grandchildren, Max Jr., Dillon, Destiny, George, Madison, Jacob and Allison; her beloved fur baby, Reba; her special friend, Abraham Kelly and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service is being held at Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester VA. ****We fully understand that memorializing a loved one through a funeral or memorial service is an important step in their grieving process, it’s the root of why we do what we do. Our main purpose is to serve our community, one family at a time, during what can be a difficult season to navigate. Currently, it seems we must consider the greater good, and make the hard, inconvenient choices that may not benefit us each individually, but can greatly impact the community as a whole. Currently, we are working with families to make decisions that will help us all adhere to the CDC’s guidelines. We are sorry for the inconveniences this health crisis is posing for everyone, but we truly believe that serving others and loving them well is sacrificial work. Right now, the sacrifices we make to keep our distance, even when we desperately want to comfort others in person, could potentially save lives. If you aren’t going to be attending a service, as you would during other circumstances, make the extra effort to reach out through phone calls, emails, cards and letters, and especially remember those grieving in prayer. Grief is a process that is unique for each individual and it has no timeline. Please continue to reach out to these families in future weeks and months.
