Charlotte Ann Hockaday Carneal, 79, of Churchview, VA passed away December 27, 2021 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Ann loved to dance and family gatherings. She was the rock and glue of the family. Ann loved her family fiercely and will be greatly missed by so many. After high school Ann worked for Eastern State Hospital as a secretary for ten years. She retired from Camp Peary and later owned and operated Middlesex Florist for over 20 years. Ann was preceded in death by her first husband Robert “Bobby” Hockaday; her parents Matthew and Minnie Wooten; sisters Jewel, Juanita, Vickie, Janet “Cuddy” and Vernie Mae; brothers Ricky, James Adams and Matthew “Cotton” Wooten. She is survived by her husband Harold Carneal; children Renee Hundley (Mike), Kevin Hockaday (Molly), and Keith Hockaday (Holly); step-children Tammy Matsey (Danny), Robin Morgan (Rich), David Carneal (Amy) and Dawn Nash (Skip); siblings John “stack” Wooten (Doris), Barbara Deskins, Linda Dickens (Albert) and Ruby Newbill (Monte); grandchildren Jeremy Adams, Christina Hogge (Joe), Shawn Hockaday (Christina), Samantha Hockaday, Bryan Sheldon, Savannah, Bobby and Hunter Hockaday; step-grandchildren Christopher Matsey (Angie), Heather Matsey (Mark), Ryan Morgan (Katie), Carter Morgan, Kate Carneal, Caroline Carneal, Ella Nash, Harrison Nash and Audrey Nash, an adopted granddaughter Amanda Freeman and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family members. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, December 31st at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with interment at 2:30 P.M. in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Love4kidsfoundation or the charity of your choice.
