Corey Anton Davis

Corey Anton Davis, 46, passed away suddenly on June 15, 2016 surrounded by family at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Mason Davis Parham. Corey was born on August 1, 1969 at Petersburg General Hospital to parents, Mary Mason Davis and Frank Davis. Corey accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized on September 14, 1980 and joined Unity Baptist Church of South Street in Petersburg, VA. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1987 and later completed a Nurse’s Aide Program through Petersburg Public Schools as well as having completed a Diesel Truck Driver Training Program through John Tyler Community College. Corey drove trucks and loved doing so until his health declined. Corey was a great cook and especially loved to grill, which he learned at an early age from his mother and the other mother figures in his life. Corey is survived by his son, Justin L. Davis of Petersburg, VA, and leaves parents, Frank and Joyce Davis of Chester, VA; step-mother, Laretiner Davis of Dinwiddie, VA; sisters, Tearia Davis and Larentiner Fallin-Thompson of Dinwiddie, VA, and Robin White Bowles of Chester, VA; brothers, Quen Davis of Landover, MD, James Lewis (Stephanie) of California, Kenny Lewis of Germany, James Jackson, Jr. of Chester, VA, Walter Jackson of Prince George, VA, and Wayne Jackson; a special cousin, Tyrone Mason (Joanne) of Leavenworth, KS, who was raised as a brother; three aunts, Ruth Gibbs (Louis) of Teaneck, NJ, Vivian Edmonds of S. Chesterfield, VA, and Earlene Hope (Theron) of Brooklyn, NY; one uncle, Roy Mason (Arzie) of Goldsboro, NC; one great-aunt, Trula Myrick of Petersburg, VA; Godmother, Senora Avery of Northern Virginia; Godfather, Carroll (Rita) Avery of Petersburg, VA; three very special nephews, Ari Peterson, Morgen Jackson, and Jordan Carr; two devoted cousins, Varonica Roach and Derek Mason of Petersburg, VA; as well as special friends, Tish of Maryland, Quentin of Petersburg, VA, and Onza of Detroit MI; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 4 pm, Friday, June 24, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA, where Pastor Mitchell of Unity Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Corey's life. A repass will be held at Emmanuel Worship Center located at 236 Grove Avenue, Petersburg, VA at 7pm, following the memorial service. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Davita Dialysis Center in Petersburg, VA for their care, love, and support for Corey over the many years he received treatment.
