Emma M. Crawley

Emma M. Crawley, 92, departed this life December 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in Charles City County on February 14, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Henry Harris and Ruby Miles. Emma attended Wayside Elementary School and Ruthville High School. She worked at Thalhimers Department Store and did day work for different families. Emma loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved baseball with her favorite teams being the L.A. Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. Emma also loved to fish and cook. She enjoyed singing in the senior choir, gospel chorus and taught Sunday School until her health started to fail. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlton J. Crawley, Sr. (Honey); son, Terry Crawley; granddaughter, Ashley Crawley; brothers, Alvin, Roger, Harry Sr., Henry, Joe and Floyd Miles; and sister, Dorothy Crawley. Emma is survived by her son, Carlton J. Crawley, Jr. (Carol); sisters, Abbie Tally and Ruby Bowman; daughter in law, June Crawley; six grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters in law, Anna Miles, Norris Crawley, Brenda Crawley and Betty Crawley; brother in law, Vernon Crawley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. A graveside service will be held 1PM Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at Gilfield Baptist Church, 6640 Church Lane, Charles City, VA 23030. A walk through viewing will be held from 5pm-7pm, Friday, December 18th at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. **The Service for Mrs. Crawley will be livestreamed on the Gilfield Baptist Church Facebook Page.**
