Genevieve Beatrix Racioppi

July 17, 1922 - November 26, 2021

Genevieve Beatrix Racioppi, 99, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021. She was born July 17, 1922, in France and later, being the wife of a soldier, lived in many different places including Denbigh, VA and finally passed away at Brookdale Chambrel of Williamsburg, VA. Genevieve’s early life included living in German occupied southern France, where she was part of the resistance movement and following VE Day she met her future husband Dominick at a USO sponsored dance for military personnel in Cannes, France. Dominick got orders to go home to Yonkers, New York. He proposed to Genevieve and married her in Cannes. They moved to Yonkers, NY. Genevieve got tired of New York living so they moved back to France where their only son, Ralph, was born. Dominick reenlisted in the Army and was stationed throughout Europe before retiring in Denbigh, VA. Genevieve was a co-founder of the Peninsula French Club, in which she was active her entire life. She was preceded in death by her husband Dominick Racioppi, her parents Raymond and Eglantine Peltier and a brother Jean Peltier. Genevieve is survived by a son Ralph Racioppi and his wife, Roberta, two granddaughters Jennifer “Gigi” Jordan and her husband, Brandon, Blair Racioppi, and two great-grandchildren Jackie and Charlie Jordan. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, November 29th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service Monday evening at the funeral home. A private burial will take place in Peninsula Memorial Park.
