Glenn Jason Woodley

Glenn Jason Woodley, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 12, 2024. He was born on August 30, 1967, to the late William Woodley, Sr., and to Grace R. Woodley. Glenn was educated at an early age in the Charles City County Public School system. He worked at restaurants in the Williamsburg area and for VDOT, where you could see him holding his signs and directing traffic, smiling, and waving cars on. Glenn was a self-proclaimed “independent contractor,” doing everything from washing cars, cutting trees, renovating, lecturing, and, yes, babysitting. Glenn was the best babysitter and showed love to all of “his” children. He also worked as a true performer, from being a musician (he loved music) to the most elaborate storyteller (he loved to entertain). The job for which Glenn will be the most remembered is that of an award-winning stand-up comedian. He was an award worthy storyteller, telling jokes about his mansion, his 300-pound girlfriend, his antics “up town” and “across the water,” just to name a few. He would make family and friends laugh for hours at a time. When you met up with Glenn, you always left with a smile on your face and laughter in our heart. Glenn leaves to cherish his memories, his mother (who he affectionately referred to as “Moms,” “Ma,” or “Gracie Girl”); three maternal aunts, Hancy Hatchett, Gladys Johnson (Walter), and Alleana Jefferson, and two uncles Robert Woodley (Martha) and Allen Woodley. Glenn was one of 11 children. His memories remain with his four sisters, Phyllis Wallace (Daniel), Barbara Jefferson, Martha Harris, and Brenda Brown; six brothers, Warren Jefferson, David Lee Jefferson (Annie), William Woodley, Jr., Phillip Woodley, Curt Woodley, and Curtis Woodley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, honorary grandchildren, and friends. Glenn never met a stranger who remained a stranger for long. He found a friend in everyone that he met. Some of his many devoted friends include Stacey Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Darice Dobson, Keara Greene, James Jones, Franklin Jones, Sr., Jeremy Jones, Steven Williams, Sr., and Roy Cotman. A funeral service will be held 1PM Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Elam Baptist Church, 13060 The Glebe Ln, Charles City, VA 23030. A viewing will be held from 5PM-7PM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Charles City, VA.
