James Harold Hill

August 7, 1940 - July 16, 2021

James Harold Hill, 80, originally from Indian Neck (King and Queen) VA lived in Charles City. “Moon” or “Zippy” as he was affectionately called was born on August 7, 1940. He received his wings on Friday, July 16, 2021. James was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Hill, Sr. and Polly Alice Hill, brothers, Melvin Hill, William Henry Hill, sister Frances Hill Ingram, and grandson Jacobi Isaiah Hill. James accepted Christ at an early age at Beulah Baptist Church and knew Christ as his personal Savior. Moon attended school in King and Queen County where he played baseball as the starting pitcher and won the state championship. Moon later played baseball with the baseball league. Moon was also an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War in France. Zippy retired from Reynolds Metals Company after 37 years of service. Zippy was a loving kind-hearted gentleman with a free spirit. He was a wonderful husband and a great father. He took pride in manicuring lawns and working with the great outdoors. James simply adored spending lots of quality time with his bride (the love of his life), Valeria. James loved Valeria and Val’s cooking. Not only did James enjoy the delicious dishes; but would ask you to join in for a good home cooked meal. Precious memories of James will be cherished by his devoted wife of 30 years, Valeria; two sons; Zachary (Tawanna) Hill of Maryland, James (Tony) A. Hill of Richmond, step-daughter, Marchelle Hampton of Henrico, four granddaughters and four grandsons, and one step-grandson, one great-granddaughter, one great grandson, two brothers, Richard (Ellen) Hill of Henrico and John (Ollie “Jean”) Thomas Hill of Richmond and two brothers-in-law, Maurice Charity of Charles City, Alphonso Ingram of Richmond, a devoted niece, Brandi N. Flowers of Glen Allen, his ex-wife, Shirley Hill, and a plethora of friends and family members. The family has entrusted final arrangements to Vincent Funeral Home in Providence Forge, Va. A private memorial service for James Harold Hill will be held at a later time.
