Javier Jorge Smith

April 17, 1971 - October 17, 2020

Javier Jorge Smith, 49, of Charles City, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Warren Smith and Linda Elena Novelo Smith. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Holly Adkins Smith; son, Shane; daughter Lyric; brothers, Arthur (Nikki), Warren (Stephanie), Matthew, Mark, Sherman, Sam Jr., Kyle and Shane; sisters, Jasmine, Marjean, Lally, Jessie, Janelle and Pamela; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Betty Jackson; Father-in-law, Eugene Adkins; brother and sister-in-law Torland and Billie Jo Cornelius-Adkins; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends. Javier is also survived by his beloved beagles, his lab Ellie and loyal guardian Daisy the peekapoo. Javier served as Sheriff for Charles City County from 2008-2016, prior to that he served the sheriff’s department as a deputy for 11 years. Javier was currently working as a deputy for Chesterfield Sheriff's Office and worked with the Circuit Court. He was a member of Glendale Community Bible Church where he served as a Deacon. Javier always had a way with people; his laugh and smile was contagious. Javier was an avid hunter and fisherman, always willing to teach anyone. He actually killed a 9 pointer before his death with a bow and arrow. Besides hunting and fishing, Javier also had a love for gardening, hunting dogs, the Raiders, Yankees, Lakers, Mustangs, and believe it or not…watching Wimbledon! Chickahominy lake bass fishing with his son was his favorite father/son pass time. Lyric and Javier had a passion for cooking together and seeing beauty in nature. Holly and Javier enjoyed mini date nights, eating a pizza from Horizon food store in the truck just spending special quality time together in the Glendale Community Bible Church parking lot, two birds in love. Javier was proud to protect and serve the community and will be missed by all. A graveside service will be held 2PM Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Glendale Community Bible Church, 8151 Warriner Rd, Richmond, VA 23231. A walk through viewing will be held from 4pm-8pm Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. *Please feel free to bring your own lawn chair for graveside services at the church cemetery* **Due to the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, please adhere to the CDC guidelines of wearing a face mask/covering and social distancing when attending services, as this is a requirement** **Due to strong urging from both the Governor of Virginia and the CDC to limit the number of people at gatherings, we ask that you exercise extreme caution when choosing to attend any services.
