Lila Nadine Miles

July 15, 1957 - March 11, 2020

Lila Nadine Miles, 62, of Charles City, Virginia, was born on July 15, 1957. She departed this life suddenly during the late hours of Wednesday evening, March 11, 2020 at her home. Lila was educated in the Charles City public school system. She accepted Christ at a young age and continued to be strong in her faith throughout her life. She began her career in factory work and then transitioned to several years of customer service. After which, she left and became the full-time caregiver to her father and brother. Lila was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth (Peaches) Christian; sister, Donna Miles; and Brother, Ernest (Red) Miles. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was fondly embraced as surrogate mom to many of the friends of her children. Lila enjoyed taking trips to the casino, curling up with her Nook to read, and spending hours on the computer playing Candy Crush. Lila also volunteered at the missionary kitchen. Lila leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing, Three loving children, Dawna Mason and Wendy and Walter Miles; Father, Ernest Linwood Christian; Brother, Douglas “Chick” Miles; Aunt, Bertha Jefferson; four grandchildren, Andre’ Mason, Taniyah and Talayah Williams, and Elayah Miles; Sister-in-law, Lois “Sug” Miles; two nieces, Jaunee Miles-Minter and Brooke Miles; a host of great nieces and nephews; Devoted friends, Zona Miles and Thelma “Dora” Young; and Special Love, Woody Green. A funeral service will be held 1PM Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Gilfield Baptist Church, 6640 Church Ln, Charles City, VA 23030. In light and response to the current Covid-19 health crisis and in accordance with the Virginia State mandate, we STRONGLY encourage family and friends to pay their respects at the viewing 1pm-5pm Tuesday March 17, 2020 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140 and allow the immediate family and close friends space for the funeral on Wednesday, for we will be limiting attendance. We fully understand that memorializing their loved ones through a service is an important step in the grief process, it’s the root of why we do what we do. Our main purpose is to serve our community, one family at a time, during what can be a difficult season to navigate. Currently, it seems we must consider the greater good, and make the hard, inconvenient choices that may not benefit us each individually, but can greatly impact the community as a whole. We are working with families to make decisions that will help us all adhere to the CDC’s guidelines. We are sorry for the inconveniences this health crisis is posing for everyone, but we truly believe that serving others and loving them well is sacrificial work. Right now, make the extra effort to reach out to those grieving through phone calls, emails, cards and letters, but especially remember them in prayer. Grief is a process that is unique for each individual and it has no timeline. Please continue to reach out to these families in future weeks and months.
