Linford Loy Harrell
October 5, 1942 - April 25, 2022
Linford Loy Harrell moved on to his next big project on April 25, 2022 from his home in West Point, VA at the age of 79. Lin was preceded in departure by his wife of almost 50 years, Judith Tinder Harrell, and his parents, Percy Loy and Adalia Winslow Harrell. Lin was born in Norfolk, VA in October of 1942. He met his loving wife, Judy, at East Carolina University where he studied Art. He started his professional career as a teacher but that was just the first of many ventures. Lin went on to become a salesman, an artist, a corporate CEO, an inventor, an entrepreneur, a contractor, a boat captain and much, much more. He was a creative dreamer who never stopped imagining new ways to work and play. Lin loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping, cooking, and working in his shop, but mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends whom he adored. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, papa, cousin, and friend. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed by anyone and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Lin is survived by his sons, Wade Harrell (Beth) and Travis Harrell (Michelle); daughters, Whitney Hixenbaugh (Tim) and Lindsey Harrell; grandchildren, Autumn Mendez (Andres), Denver Hixenbaugh, Lily Harrell, Andy Pyne, Caroline Pyne; great-granddaughter, Amelia Judith Mendez; sisters, Laurice Thomson (John) and Linda Minor; brother, Kevin Harrell (Susan); and not to be forgotten, his trusty dog and sidekick, Dudley. Funeral services for Lin will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at Brett-Reed Memorial Presbyterian Church with burial immediately following at Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, May 10th at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, VA. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we simply ask you to make some time to spend with the ones you love!
