Mark William Richardson
March 21, 1950 - September 7, 2019
Mark William Richardson, 69, of Mascot, VA, formerly of Newtown, CT, passed away after a brief illness Saturday, September 7, 2019. Mark worked in the hospitality industry in CT and VA for most of his career. He loved working with people and enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. Music and older movies were his two passions. His musical tastes were eclectic, everything from Sousa marches to 1950’s Doo Wop. His knowledge of both subjects was encyclopedic. Mark enjoyed regaling friends and family with trivia and especially loved noting different parts in different movies that character actors played. Only Mark could know that the famed director Elia Kazan played Googi in the movie City of Conquest and once had the opportunity to tell Mr. Kazan in person how much he enjoyed that performance. Mark had an interest and curiosity for almost everything, but you can’t think about him without remembering how much he loved sitting on his porch and drinking coffee. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Howard Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deborah Richardson; his mother, Gloria Richardson; two daughters, Vanessa Richardson and Aimee Tenney; two step-children, Cory Lewis and Erin Evans; two siblings, Laurie Pochodowitz and Kenneth Richardson; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Robert Ivancso; three step-grandsons, Luca Lewis, Everett and Weston Evans. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM, Sunday, September 22nd at Tides Inn, 480 King Carter Dr., Irvington, VA 22480. The family will gather again to celebrate Mark’s life from 1 to 3 PM, on Sunday, October 6th at Tambascio’s Restaurant, 1 Dodgingtown Rd., Newtown, CT 06470. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main St, Gloucester, VA 23061. Vincent Funeral Home, West Point chapel is handling the arrangements.
