Melvin R. Taylor

November 19, 1945 - June 18, 2022

Melvin R. Taylor passed away peacefully at the age of 76, at his home in Chesterfield, Virginia on Saturday, June 18, 2022, with family by his side. He is survived by Jo Ann P. Taylor, his beloved wife of over 55 years; daughter, Patricia Ann Miller (Stephen); son, Michael R. Taylor; three grandchildren, Lindsay Jo Marais, Jocelyn Taylor Marais and Clayton Allan R. Marais; brother, Chandler Roy Taylor, Jr. (Katherine); and sister, Beverly Rich (Charles). He was preceded in death by his parents, Chandler Roy Taylor, Sr., and Mary Chamberlain Taylor, as well as his dear K9 companion, Beamer Taylor (yellow lab). Melvin enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing and spending time traveling and having fun with his three grandchildren. He spent many weekends and holidays on Hockley Creek in King and Queen County, Melvin’s birthplace. Mr. Taylor owned and operated a successful construction company for over 30 years, maintaining lifelong clients and friendships along the way. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 12-2 PM at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point VA, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Shackelfords Chapel Cemetery at 3732 Buena Vista Road, Shacklefords VA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society www.lls.org_, or your preferred church or charity.
