Nancy A. Coates, 65, of Shacklefords, VA passed away March 26, 2022. She retired from King & Queen Elementary School as a cafeteria manager. Nancy enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and playing softball. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her mother Arlene Anderson, her father Leo Bernard Anderson and a brother Ronnie Anderson. Nancy is survived by her husband of 44 years Plug Coates; a son Charles Coates; a daughter Hannah Chapman (James); two sisters Betty Estis (Brinkley) and Mary Hall; and two grandsons Jac and Matthew Chapman. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. Interment will follow in New Hope Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
