Rebecca McAdams Massey

Mrs. Rebecca McAdams Massey, 87, of West Point, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, February 28th, 2022, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center at 2:30 am. Mrs. Massey retired from Chesapeake Corporation, where she worked as a Compensation Manager. She graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. She had a true passion and love for music which she shared by playing the piano and organ at Beulah Church and numerous other places. Becky taught at Pleasant Hill and her passion for education created the desire to pass on the love of math to her grandsons with weekly tutoring sessions. Becky was a member of Fairmount Christian Church for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Ulysses S. McAdams and Margie Coble McAdams, a brother, Calvin McAdams and a sister, Doris M. Balog. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Sam Massey Jr. Becky and Sam were married in Burlington, NC before moving to West Point in 1974 to continue raising their family. She is also survived by a daughter, Jackie McNeil (Jamie); sons, Jonathan L. Massey (Sarah) and Jonathan T. Massey (Ashton); five grandchildren, Samantha Roscoe, Dustin Walton, Kevin Massey, Austin Massey, and Bradley Massey; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Gibson, Ava Roscoe and Zander Massey; three sisters, Ruth M. Proctor, Carol M. Smith (Wayne), and Judy M. Edwards (Danny). Becky was well loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends 3 to 6 PM, Saturday, March 5 at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, VA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 16th, 2022 at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HEART Ministries, P.O. Box 390, West Point, VA 23181.
