Rebecca Susan Beane Ferguson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rebecca Susan Beane Ferguson, age 99, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 4, 2018. Born on Christmas Day 1918, she was the fifth child of William George Beane, Jr., and Ethelind Taylor Beane. She graduated from Stevensville High School and attended Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, NC. She was employed by the King and Queen County Department of Social Services for 46 years. Mrs. Ferguson was a life-long member of Immanuel Episcopal Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women and as the church organist for approximately 70 years. She was also a member of the WMU of Olivet Baptist Church for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel U. Ferguson, and her siblings, William (Bunny) Beane, Martha Courtney Michaux, Albert (Tee) Beane, Catherine Hall and Benjamin Beane. She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Deborah and Thomas Longest of King and Queen; two granddaughters and their husbands, Janet and Kevin Norman of King and Queen, and Lesley and David Fry of Kailua, HI; two great-granddaughters, Sara and Lindsey Norman of King and Queen; one brother, Reginald Beane, of Williamsburg; two special nieces, Harwood Hall and Susan Gresham of King and Queen; and many other beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, Immanuel Episcopal Church, 190 Allen’s Circle, King and Queen C.H., VA 23085 and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA 23181.
