Richard H. Rundle

Richard “Dick” Rundle, 81, passed away at home May 26, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of New Kent, VA, for 2 years, but called Bedford County, VA, home for over thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Orissa Rundle; and sister, Shirley Ambrose. Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cindy Rundle; children, Rick Rundle, Sonia Rundle Mouris and husband Jack, Kirk Rundle and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Charissa Rundle, Michele Mouris Wood and husband Mat Wood, Skylar Mouris, Gailyn, Ambralyn, Kristalyn, Landyn, Lauralyn, Gabrielyn; and his sister, Doris Reier and husband Howard. Visitation is at 12:00pm on June 6th, 2015, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm, both at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. This will be followed by a burial in Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 1720 Bethany Church Circle, Forest, VA 24551. Dick served as a hospital corpsman in the United States’ Navy during the Korean War. He later married Cindy and had three children. Dick and his family lived in Dinwiddie County, VA for 17 years. Dick was a fun loving young man, enjoying his children and friends as he worked in management for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He served on the Board of Supervisors for Dinwiddie County from 1972-1975 and was a member of the Gerow Ruritan Club, a Mason, and a devoted member of Kenwood United Methodist Church. The friends he made from this time in his life turned into lifelong friends, with memories his family and friends will cherish forever. In 1981, he moved to Bedford County and started his journey with a new set of lifelong friends. He never met a stranger and easily made friends with everyone. He continued his career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and became a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He retired from Metropolitan Life in 1989 and began driving handicapped children to school in Bedford County. He retired from the Bedford County School System in 2006. In 2013 he moved to New Kent County, VA to be closer to family. He will always be remembered for his humor, friendliness, and honesty. He was fun loving and always ready to go on an adventure. He loved people, and more than anything he loved his family and friends. He will be missed by many.
