Robert Kirk Carlton
December 2, 1947 - January 24, 2022
Following a lengthy brave battle with cancer, Robert Kirk Carlton of Mattaponi, VA passed away at home with his family by his side on January 24,2022 at the age of 74. Kirk proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and VA Air National Guard for a total of 32 years, and retired as Senior Master Sgt. He was a life-long member of Old Church United Methodist Church. The legacy of Kirk’s kind spirit, passion for sports, hunting, and zest for life will be cherished by his family. He will be missed greatly, but never forgotten. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Helen Kemp Carlton, daughters Heather Miller (Mark), Holli Bolt (R.D.), grandsons Brad Miller (Taylor), Todd Miller, Skyler Bolt (Allison), a very special great-grandson Grayson Miller (his pride & joy), sister Janice Crumpton (Buddy), and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Jeanette Carlton. A celebration of Kirk’s life will be held 2 p.m. January 30th, 2022 at Old Church United Methodist Church, 25614 The Trail, Mattaponi, VA 23110. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Old Church UMC 25614 The Trail, Mattaponi VA 23110, or donate blood to The American Red Cross. ***Due to Covid the family requests that everyone wear a mask for the visitation and the funeral.
