Also, our sincere appreciation for the kind and compassionate care from the hospice staff the last few days for our mom. Ruth was a strong Christian woman and a longtime member of Sandston Baptist Church, a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member of the Samis Grotto. She and her husband were also Clowns with the Samis Grotto unit and participated in many parades and festivals around Richmond for several years. She was employed with Reynolds Metals Company and retired after 31 years. Ruth loved everyone and enjoyed being active in her community and church, and especially loved her family. For many years she taught youth in Sunday School at Venable Baptist Church, and also sang in the church choir. Ruth was a hard worker, who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, working in her flowers and yard, and especially loved going on family trips to the beach or the mountains. Family get-togethers and events were her happiest times. In 2018, she and Bernard moved into the Masonic Home of Virginia to live the rest of their retirement years. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Sandston Baptist Church, with visitation one hour before the funeral service. Burial will be at Washington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandston Baptist Church or Eastern Henrico F.I.S.H. organization, P.O. Box 38212, Henrico, VA 23231.
