William Thomas O'Connor Jr.

William T. O’Connor, Jr., 81, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020. William, “Bill,” was born to William Thomas O’Connor, Sr. and Pauline Kelly O’Connor on Sept. 10, 1939. He was raised in West Point and Deltaville. In 1957, he graduated from West Point High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1957–1961. Much of his time, he was stationed in Alaska. In 1967, Bill began working as a millwright for Chesapeake Corporation in West Point and continued there until retirement nearly 30 years later. Bill was a loving, loyal husband, a man of faith and a hard-working provider for his family. He was an avid golfer, boater, fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed football, woodcarving, gardening and family genealogy. Bill had a long, brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease as well as MSA, Multiple System Atrophy; this after having previously beaten cancer. By his side for all of this was his best friend and loving wife of close to 22 years, Insun Monica Seo. They shared a beautiful love. Bill is also survived by his sister, Louise Heidelberg of West Point, son Kevin O’Connor (Susan) of Toano, daughter Marcella O’Connor Jenkins of Midlothian, son Barry T. O’Connor (Suzanne) of West Point, and daughter Kelly O’Connor of Williamsburg, along with step sons Frank E. Watson (Kelly) of San Antonio, TX and Shorty E. Watson of Newport News. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and a great granddaughter. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Sentara Williamsburg Hospital along with the teams of Amedisys Hospice Care and Vincent Funeral Home in West Point for all of their care and compassion. Memorial gifts may be made to help in Parkinson’s research at www.michaeljfox.org. Due to Covid-19, no funeral services will be held.
