Carol Ann Vines Moore

Carol Ann Vines Moore, 81, passed away on August 20, 2026, in her West Point, Virginia home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Geraldine (Falls) Vines; Roger Moore, husband; Richard Adams, husband; and James Vines, brother. Carol leaves behind a daughter, Amy Moore Durham and her husband James (Joey), of West Point; brother, Gerald L. "Butch" Vines of Newport News, and countless extended family and friends. Carol will be missed by everyone who knew her. Carol was born in Roanoke, raised in Hampton, lived in Richmond, and moved back to the tidewater area. Last summer she moved to West Point to be closer to Amy. She was baptized at Bethany Methodist Church in Hampton. Carol graduated from Hampton High in 1963, and reconnected with classmates after retirement, who all became special to her. Carol enjoyed time at Lake Anna where she and Roger built a summer home themselves. Even with a lake house, it wasn’t the same as the beach. Carol, Amy, and several friends rented a house every year for a girls week in OBX until just 2 years ago. She loved being near the water but actually couldn’t swim. In retirement, she and Richard learned how to make beautiful stained glass panels. Always wanting to learn how to quilt, she did just that, making lap quilts for many of the special people in her life. But Carol was always ready for a casino trip. She loved all of her extended friends and family members, visiting as often as she could! Carol retired from the Richmond IRS office as a senior level manager with 29 years of service. She began her government career at the Naval Weapons Station. Carol was a beautiful person inside and out. She maintained her Hollywood good looks throughout her life. And she had the class to compliment her looks. She was generous, always helping others and thinking of the less fortunate. If Carol saw something she thought someone would like, she would send it to them. She got just as much out of making others happy. A "Celebration" of Carol's life will be held on September 19, 2026, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at her home in West Point. Contact Amy for the address.
