On February 16, 2026, Darlene Yvonne Cotman entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and kindness that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on March 26, 1956, in Charles City, VA, Darlene was the beloved daughter of Doris Johnson. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Harry Sr. & Iva Adkins. For 48 beautiful years, Darlene shared her life with her devoted husband, Anthony Cotman Sr. Their love story was one of commitment, partnership, and unwavering support. She was a cherished mother to two loving and devoted children, Tiffany Charity (Chartae Sr.) and Anthony Cotman Jr. (Volonda), and a proud grandmother to Chartae Jr. (CJ), Cassidy (Missy), and Anthony III (Manny). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she always ensured they had everything they needed for school and life. Darlene’s loving and devoted family circle includes her mother Doris Johnson; two sisters, Sharon Crewe (James Jr.) and Verna Johnson; two brothers, Leonard and Keith Johnson; three aunts, Janice Adkins, Juphenia Adkins, and Doris Adkins; one uncle, Gilbert Adkins; one sister-in-law, Carrie Anne Williams; three nieces, Tera Pinkney (Damian), Neena Cotman, and Kiwanda Johnson (Derrick); three nephews, Sewan Johnson (Krystal), Jamar Cotman (Sparkle), and James Crewe III (ShaDonna); one cousin, Linda Morris; one bonus daughter, Laura Bradby Carter (Gerrell); two friends, Sandra Parker and Sherleen Crewe, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends. At an early age, Darlene accepted Christ and became a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was a proud graduate of Charles City Public Schools, Class of 1974 and dedicated 40 years of service as an Operations Lead at Reynolds Metal before retiring, exemplifying hard work, dedication, and integrity throughout her career. She found joy in shopping with her daughter, affectionately called "Nanny," spending Saturdays at yard sales, thrifting, and enjoying lunch together. Darlene loved planting flowers at home and at her children's homes, visiting Lowe's, cooking, and cherishing time with loved ones. Her warmth, generosity, and nurturing spirit were felt by all. Darlene was a caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was truly an angel on earth, and now she rests as an angel in Heaven. Her wavering love and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va 23140. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment to follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
