William Cary Seward

William Cary Seward, 75, laid down his Earthly obligations to enter his eternal home with Jesus Christ, his personal Lord and Savior. Heaven’s gain is his family and friend’s deepest loss. Throughout his 75 years, you could not leave Cary’s presence without knowing that Jesus Christ loved you, died for you and conquered death to spend eternity with you, if you would only have faith to believe it. On March 28, 1946, Mr. Seward was born to the late James Ryland Seward Sr. and Fannie Lucille Seward in Richmond, Virginia. He was the youngest of six children. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his oldest daughter Elizabeth Grace Anderson who was expecting his third grandchild, his four sisters Gladys Seward, Elizabeth Carmine (Richard), Shirley Campbell, and Joyce Hansen (Kenneth). Cary spent many of his 44 years of his life either in King and Queen County, Hampton, Williamsburg or West Point, Virginia. Before turning 20, Cary knew that a relationship with Jesus was personal, took time to grow, and was the best thing you could do while here on Earth. Second to accepting Jesus as his Savior, his happiest days were meeting, marrying and spending over 44 years with his love Janice Marie Seward. Along with Mrs. Seward left to cherish his memory is his son Robert “Robbie” Lang Seward of Chesapeake, VA; his daughter Mary Christine Seward of Hampton, VA; his grandson Michael Carey Seward of Hampton, VA; his granddaughter Gabriella Elyse Anderson of Hampton, VA; son in law William Earl Anderson Jr. of Hampton, VA; a brother James ”Jimmy” Seward Jr. (Clara) of King and Queen County, VA; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and other relatives; and several friends. Cary served as a Chaplain for numerous years, affectionately known as Brother Will. His hobbies were ministering to and teaching others, especially children, about Jesus completely understanding that our lives on Earth was temporary and our Heavenly home was forever; football; baseball (NY Yankees); spending time with his large family at family celebrations he was honored to bless the food whenever he was able to say the grace; and socializing in the lobbies of McDonald’s, Hardees and Subway in West Point, Va. Finally, he would want everyone reading this to know his favorite scripture John 3: 16 “For God so loved this world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”. Mrs. Seward would like to personally thank all the doctors, caregivers, family and friends who have cared for Mr. Seward or lovingly supported her throughout Mr. Seward’s illness. There will be a private visitation for his family. On August 27, 2021, at 11:00 am we are asking friends and family to gather at Sunny Slope Cemetery in West Point, VA for a graveside service lead by Pastor Wayne Groome. All funeral arrangements were left in the care of Vincent Funeral Home.
